Preparation

Email Settings:

Make sure your email is setup as POP/POP3 so that you don’t leave any email on the old server during migration. It looks like you are leaving allot of email on the server. Check to be sure your settings are as follows:

POP3

Incoming Server Port: 995

Outgoing Server: 465

Very Important Settings:

Leave messages on server Unchecked or Off

Do not leave messages on server.

Name Servers:

Be sure you know where in your GoDaddy account the settings are for changing nameservers to the new server. DO NOT change yes just see where the settings are.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log In: Sign in to your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio.

  2. Select Domain: Select the domain you want to update to access the Domain Settings page.

  3. Navigate to DNS: Select DNS and then choose Nameservers.

  4. Edit Nameservers: Click Change or Edit.

  5. Enter Custom Nameservers: Choose the option "I'll use my own nameservers".

  6. Add Servers: Enter your new nameserver addresses (e.g., ns1.example.com, ns2.example.com) in the provided fields.

  7. Save: Click Save and then Continue.

PayPal Settings:

After the site is on the new server you will need to activate PayPal in WooCommerce. Login and get familiar with where the setting is but DO NOT enter the Payments setup section until the site is active on the new server.

Login to the new site Dashboard

Go to WooCommerce

Settings

Find the Payments Tab at the top of the screen but DO NOT click that section until the website is active on the new server.

Migration

Next day I’ll set the existing site so that no purchases can be made then send you an email.

Make sure you wait one hour then process any pending orders and save all information you need for fulfillment locally on your computer.

Send me an email or call me once you have all the unfulfilled order information downloaded.

Make GoDaddy Nameserver Changes:

Change Nameservers to:

Example: Contact support for actual nameservers

ns1-xxxxxxx.com

ns2.xxxxxxx.com

It will take from 2 to 24 hours for DNS to propagate around the Internet.

Monitor the website to see when it resolves to the new server. Some ISPs are much slower than others to update their DNS. My Xfinity/Comcast is slow. I switch to cell(T-Mobile) and usually get new sites within a couple hours.

It may switch back and forth for an hour before staying solid on the new server so wait an hour after you first get it on the new server before activating PayPal in WooCommerce!

Activate PayPal in WooCommerce:

Step-by-Step Activation Guide

  1. Install the Plugin:

    • Navigate to Plugins > Add New in your WordPress dashboard.

    • Search for "WooCommerce PayPal Payments".

    • Click Install Now on the plugin developed by WooCommerce, then click Activate.

  2. Connect Your PayPal Account:

    • Go to WooCommerce > Settings and click the Payments tab.

    • Click Set Up or Manage next to the PayPal option.

    • Click Activate PayPal Payments to start the onboarding wizard.

  3. Onboarding Wizard:

    • Log in to your PayPal Business account (or create one).

    • Follow the prompts to connect your account and grant permissions.

    • Complete the process to return to your WooCommerce dashboard.

  4. Finalize Setup:

    • Ensure the checkbox to Enable/Disable PayPal is checked in the payment methods list.

    • Save your changes.

Key Settings and Tips

  • Account Type: A Business account is recommended to access all payment methods, including Card Processing and Pay Later options.

  • Advanced Card Processing: You can enable this in the settings to allow customers to pay with credit/debit cards directly on your site.

Call or email me when you are getting the new site and Activate PayPal

I’ll make a test purchase to make sure PayPal is working OK.

Test email:

Email should not need any changes. Send yourself an email from outside to be sure, from Gmail or another outside email provider you may have.
